HEALTH EDUCATION
SCAD provides the Health education in accordance with the idea that the deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf-disabled community’s best possible defense against illness and disease is obtaining accurate information and a commitment to improving health, knowledge and empowerment of the community.
Join Painted Brain (on behalf of the Los Angeles County Department of
Mental Health) at a Disability Wellness Roundtable to dialogue about
the intersection of individuals living with disabilities and mental
health.
• Share your self-care practices, your mental health challenges, and
any suggestions to improve wellness conditions for the disabled
community in L.A. County.
• The Roundtable series will weave in community informed practices to
support the well-being of people living with disabilities in Los
Angeles County.
• There will be specific sessions held for each of the three
disability communities:
o Blind/low vision;
o Deaf/hard of hearing; aand
o Mobility/physically impaired.
• Contribute your feedback and receive a $25.00 gift card for participating.
To participate you must:
• Identify as:
o A person living with disabilities (Deaf/Hard of Hearing;
Mobility/Physical Impairment; Blind/Low Vision; Intersectionally
disabled), or
o Be a Family Member, Friend, Care Giver, or
o Service provider, or
o Educator of someone with a disability
• 18 years or older
• A resident of Los Angeles County.
One Roundtable session per registration.
When: January, February, March, April of 2023.
Sessions: Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 4:00pm

The National Deaf Hotline strives to make sure there is access for survivors, friends, and family members to reach out anytime by providing services that run 24 hours and 7 days a week. The services are to support survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault within the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Deaf-Disabled, and Hard-of-Hearing community.
